Why I write

I write because it helps me to make sense of my world. I write because it helps me to make sense of myself. I write because it helps to organize the chaos that often occurs inside my head. I write because it gives voice to my internal world that for so long has not been given a voice. I write because I enjoy it. I write so that I can get this stuff out of my head and into the world where I don’t have to hold it all by myself. I write so that others might be able to connect and relate. I write so that I can memorialize events in my life, so that I may look back and remember them later, since I often won’t remember the details of my life unless I write them down. I write so that I can share a  part of me with the world. I write so that I can turn my insides out, so they don’t become too bottled up inside me. I write because I can.

  1. Perfection. This sums up why we write too. So glad it’s a widely shared compulsion, as terrible as that sounds 🙂

  2. I so agree I write because like you I believe it is part of who we are and the words help us express and sort out some order in our day to day lives that can get so crowded.

  3. Isn’t it amazing how the writing process helps us to process and heal? It is an unexpected bonus for me. Your blog is lovely, by the way.
